Eligibility for host companies
In order to be able to host an international intern or trainee, your company must:

Have a reasonable ratio of full time employees to interns/trainees.

Carry a valid and current worker’s compensation insurance policy that will cover the J-1 intern/trainee.

Provide your Employer Identification Number (EIN).

Allow a site visit to your office by a designated staff member, if you have less than 25 employees and less than 3 million in annual revenue.

Provide a comprehensive Training Plan to be approved by the sponsoring organization and signed by all parties.

Have a dedicated supervisor for the training.

Ensure that trainees are appropriately selected, oriented, supervised and evaluated.

Be available to intern/trainee to assist as a facilitator and information resource.

Ensure that the training program is paid and full-time (at least 32 hours a week).

Encourage intern/trainee to participate in cultural activities.

Complete training evaluations.
